SimpleMind (Legacy) App Reviews

I like this because its simple and quick without a bunch of smiley faces getting in the way. It really needs the ability to add hyperlinks and images to items to add extra information in little space and to quickly, visually organize an idea without having to read and process the whole chart. Until thats added, well its still the best.

This is a great App, but would love to have the ability to import pictures. Until then it gets 3 Stars, would be 5. Also, would love to be able to link to a contact or contact info.

After some correspondence back and forth the refunded me fully and explained the difficulty was due the outsourcing of payments, and now i can enjoy this app and then decide if i wish to upgrade. if i could rate this at a negative i would. i had been a fan of the mobile app and when i added an iPad into my life i needed a way to sync my networked world, so i went to their website, tried the trial desktop app and found i liked it and purchased the app from their website, and here is where the troubles began. no link was provided until almost 11 hours later, by this time, as the trial app is not activated upon purchase, and to be disposed with, any work done could be lost, i discovered in their sellers email i could have purchased this app from the apple store and there discovered they offered a Free Option! which i downloaded and requested a refund, 12 hours later i received an email saying they would not refund my money because the refund would benefit apple and not them and added a sorry. well i am sorry they feel the need to fleece people after having them wait 12 hours. no apology was offered but an implied message that i was causing them hard ship. obviously i will not be using this free app even as i paid $33+ dollars for the privilege.

I have used this application for years now, and while I have tried others I keep coming back to this one. I cant explain why, but this application is the least distracting when using it in a brainstorming meeting.

Im very pleased with this app. Good flexibility, easy to quickly create and customize maps. If they want 5 stars from me a few other features would get me there. 1. Auto-layout / restructure of maps can use some tuning & additions. 2. Export to other formats (PDF, gif/jpg/png, etc.) 3. I ow there are a few other "tools" I have thought of but cant recall at the moment... All-in-all a great app. Highly recommended...

Great app, user friendly, but no simplistic.

Update: SimpleMind is still marvelous. With the ability to link to docs and URLs, SimpleMind is fitting seamlessly into my current workflow. Ive had no problems with SimpleMind at all; that extends into the User eXperience where Ive _not_ had to slow down my brainstorming in order to think about how to use the app. It just functions simply and as I would expect. I use SimpleMind regularly in meetings, on flights, in the coffeeshop, etc. anywhere I need to quickly chart out some thoughts without having to pull out a laptop. The fact that SimpleMind does what its supposed to quietly and effectively gets my stamp of approval, all the other features (sync to desktop, color schemes, export as image, etc.) are just extra gravy. This app is worth every penny.

After spending 2 weeks with 5 or 6 mind mapping apps (with and without corresponding software for my desktop Mac), SimpleMind comes out on top. On my iPhone and iPad, it works perfectly, and is equally easy to use on my desktop Mac. I would like to be able to pick colors a bit more (like iMindMap), but then I would have to put up with the odd glitches in iMindMap. The use of DropBox to communicate the maps to and from the iOS devices is a blessing (unlike spending lots of money for a “special” service.) SimpleMind works, and the UI is clear enough that I was making useful mind maps before I learned most of the features.

The first week I started using this program, I was raving about it. Intuitive, clean interface that doesnt get in the way. Multi-platform support. Beautiful output. this program not only works like a mind-mapping program should -allowing you to brainstorm, plan, teach, present, whatever-it also has underlying support for context mapping. So, whats not to like? Here are a few gripes that come to mind: (1) I created several mind maps on the PC version of this program, and did a bit of custom tweaking to some of the font sizes, etc. I then looked at some of these maps (via DropBox) on my iPad (or maybe iPhone). Great. No problem. Then when I went back later to do more editing on my PC, I noted that the formatting/sizing had gotten all screwed up and everything was somewhat jammed together. Whups. A definite annoyance-the cross-platform compatibility appears not to be as robust as one might hope. (2) node sizing is slightly off sometimes- the edges of the text can stick out beyond the borders just enough to irritate. (3) The app tries to sell me the desktop version now and then. Ok, whatever, but... I *own* the desktop version. So... Cease! Desist! Similarly, Ive already written a review. So...stop bugging me to do it! Cease! Desist! All in all, highly recommended, but I do hope the development team cleans up these few persnickety details.

It is easy to use, intuitive, and great functionality. I use it mainly for writing projects but also for organizational projects. Im so glad I found it and I highly recommend it!!

A very good one compared to many.

I like a handful of mindmap apps. I wish one would adopt the best features of the others.

Great app for daily use and with multiple devices!

Simply the best mind mapping software! Works flawlessly across multiple platforms. I have over 1000 apps and this is 1 of about 20 that I use regularly. John
